You mave to hand pollinate the flowers if you have not had any success in getting the mandragora to set fruit so far.

Hello Cimendef,

It could take up to seven years before your plant fruits. Your have pre-teenagers right now so don't give up hope. Best Health 2 U, Luisa

hi luisa,
first of all, thank you for your answer,
What ! seven years ! i didn't expect that it would be so long !
but it's not a problem i will wait.
Are you growing mandragora ? If yes, are you growing it outdoor ?
I grow it in pots in my room and it's difficult to find large pots because the root grows really quickly.
thanks
cimendef

Hi all!

I grow it for about 3 years right now... And... I have got about seven flowers.

My problem is they won't open... So I can't pollinate them... Someone?

I grow them in selfmade pots... Tubes where normally water will flow.

Hope that helps,

Greetings,

Marco from Holland

thank you for your answer
i realise that the mandrake is a really capricious plant, this year it made few leaves but they fall in december.
it was more beautiful than the precedent year but quicker too.
do you grow officinalis or autumnalis ?
and what are the size of your tubes ?
my pots are 45cm deep, and maybe 15cm large.
so thank you again, and i hope we'll share our experience and knowledge of this plant for a long time,

cimendef

Hello, newbie here. I have four of the little dickens, none more than two months old. I actually joined to find out when mine might flower and bear fruit, and fortunately got my answers. Seven years?! AI! Well that's okay, they're cute.

Ebay frequently has seeds. Right now there is a seller from Australia who has both the Mandragora officinalis and the Turkman or Turkmenian Mandrake (M. turcomanica) seeds. I have never seen the actual plants for sale.

Not sure where you live, but this company, Click Text Here sometimes has M. autumnalis in stock. For dried root, try here: Click Text Here I hope I used the linking process correctly.
